Ponta Delgada is the biggest municipality and the administrative capital of the Autonomous Region of the Azores in Portugal. It's situated on São Miguel Island, which is the largest and most populated island in the archipelago. The population in 2011 was 68,809, spread over an area of 232.99 square kilometers (89.96 square miles).
